You will see the beautiful mountain scenery and rock formation at Wilpena Pound and Flinders Ranges National Park. The tour highlights include a visit to Mambray Creek National Park, Warrens Gorge, Yourambulla Caves and wine tasting at Clare Valley. You’ll visit the deserted plains of Willochra and embark on a scenic track through Moralana, south of Wilpena Pound.

3 Day Flinders Ranges and Outback Tour Itinerary - 3 days

  • Day 1 Adelaide to Rawnsley Park Station
    We travel north via the historical coastal town of Port Germein, with the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere to Mount Remarkable National Park. Here you will enjoy lunch surrounded by 600 million year old mountain peaks and an abundance of native Australian wildlife. Head north travelling through the picturesque Pichi Richi Pass to the historic township of Quorn (the start of the original Ghan Railway).

    From Quorn we head out to Warrens Gorge Conservation Park to search for the rare and elusive Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby. Explore the deserted Willochra Plain on the Way to the centre of the Flinders Ranges, stopping at ancient Aboriginal art sites. Enjoy a hearty meal and a good night’s sleep in the natural setting of Rawnsley Park Station. No matter what accommodation you choose you are welcome to join a relaxing evening around the campfire.   • Day 2 Wilpena Pound
    Wake up to the calls of the native birdlife. Enjoy your breakfast and the morning view of South Australia's iconic Wilpena Pound (also known to the local Aboriginal people as Ikara). Today we explore the unique area that surrounds the Pound. We visit the famous Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges (also called the corridors through time) and view some of the oldest rock formations and fossils in the world whilst enjoying a great picnic lunch. Wildlife including Kangaroos, Emus and the bold Wedge Tailed Eagles are prolific in this rugged area. Travel back to Rawnsley Park via the spectacular Moralana Scenic track following the southwestern wall of Wilpena Pound. Settle down under millions of stars and enjoy your dinner and a refreshing drink at our camp. (BLD)
  • Day 3 Flinders Ranges to Adelaide
    Our journey now takes us south through the magnificent Southern Flinders Ranges with its spectacular Red Gum lined creeks to Melrose, the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges. Check out the historic buildings such as Bluey Blundstone's Blacksmith Shop. Leaving Melrose we travel through the old townships of Mid-North South Australia. On our way home to Adelaide you will have the opportunity to experience one of the best wine regions in South Australia - the Clare Valley. Here you can have a taste of the fine local wines and produce. Arriving back in Adelaide you will have many memories to share with family and friends about the Flinders Ranges & Outback. (BL)
