3 Day 4WD Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon Deluxe Tour Itinerary - 3 days
Alice Springs to Kings Canyon
An early afternoon depature from Alice Springs sees us head towards Kings Canyon via the Mereenie Loop Road, where you have the best chance of spotting Outback wildlife such as wild horses, dingoes, Frill-necked Lizard and even camels!
In the early evening you will check in to your 4-star hotel room and then enjoy a sparkling wine and selection of canapes as you overlook Carmichael Crag at the western end of Kings Canyon (time permitting). You will dine tonight at the resort's restaurant before retiring to the air-conditioned comfort of your room. (D)
Kings Canyon to Uluru
After an early breakfast we take the short drive to Kings Canyon for a guided walk. The most popular Rim Walk takes approximately three hours and requires a good fitness level. Your effort is worth it though as you get to view this Outback icon from above and within the walls of the canyon as you visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and Garden of Eden. For those wanting an easier option, there is a shorter walk along Kings Creek which leads you into the centre of the canyon.
After the energetic start to the morning we make our way towards Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park via Wilonga Well where we enjoy lunch and a glass or two of wine under the shade of the big Desert Oaks.
Upon reaching the National Park we visit Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) where your guide takes you on an easy walk of Walpa Gorge, the Windy Gully walk.
After your day of activity there's time to freshen up in your hotel room before heading towards Ulruu to a great spot to view the ever-changing colours of the rock and neighbouring Olgas during sunset. Your guide will prepare some delicious canapes with wine or cool refreshments before bringing you back to the resort for a beautiful three-course dinner. Those choosing to do the Sounds of Silence dinner (additional expense) will be picked up from the hotel and taken to the dinner site where you will watch the sunset before enjoying your buffet dinner. Reflect on the wonderful day in your dreams in your Ayers Rock Resort air-conditioned hotel room. (B,L,D)
Uluru to Alice Springs
Your guide will wake you while still dark to make the journey to a picturesque spot to watch the sun rise over the beautiful monolith of Uluru and the domes of Kata Tjuta. While the early morning may seem like a challenge at first, the effort will be worth it as you experience this beautiful sight.
Those guests electing to climb Uluru will be given a packed breakfast and be taken directly to the base of the rock to commence their two to two-and-a-half-hour climb (weather permitting.) Please note the indigenous Anangu people discourage guests from climbing Uluru due to its cultural significance. Those choosing not to climb will return to the hotel for breakfast.
Your guide will then meet all guests at the base of the rock for a guided walk where you will hear about the creation stories and fascinating geology of this world icon.
Those choosing to depart from Ayers Rock Airport will be taken there by 12.30pm while those returning to Alice Springs will commence their journey back, stopping at Curtin Springs Cattle Station for a typical Australian BBQ lunch. Your guide will drop you at your Alice Springs accommodation by approximately 5.30pm, completing your three days of magical Outback wonder. (B and lunch for customers finishing in Alice Springs)
